Quilting Arts Calendar Challenge 2010 April 14, 2010
Good evening,
Last week I received some good news: one of the two pieces I entered into the Quilting Arts Calendar Challenge 2010 "Flavor of the Month" was accepted as a finalist. The piece is 12" x 12", and it is called "Sopa Rosita", it is the flavor for the month of November.

My sister Andrea’s birthday is November 12th. My mom made our day more special by cooking our favourite foods. Andrea’s request was always Sopa Rosita, which was our family’s version of the Russian Borscht (my grandmother was Russian) – cream of beet soup made pink by the addition of a swirl of cream. So, every November Andrea got her wish and her soup, and I got to sit at the table and look at my plate thinking of a way to make it disappear because I did not like it at all! Whenever I think of the month of November, I think of my sister, and her love of Sopa Rosita.

Materials: fabric hand dyed with Procion Dyes, acrylic paint, felt, cotton fabric, Misty Fuse, silk organza, Angelina fibres, floral wire, jewelry wire, DMC embroidery thread, stuffing, cotton thread; antique wooden letterpress letters used as stamps, cotton batting

Techniques: hand dyed fabric, stamping, painting, cord making, machine appliquéd, machine quilted

I will post the second piece in a separate blog. I believe we will receive the results of which 13 quilts made it into the calendar around May 10th. I'll keep you posted.

And in the meantime, keep quilting.

Ana
PS: send me a comment or two and let me know what you think. Thanks.

When I initially commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Thank you!

Hi great blog! Does running a blog such as this require a lot of work?
I've absolutely no expertise in computer programming however I was hoping to start my own blog
soon. Anyway, should you have any suggestions or tips for new blog
owners please share. I understand this is off subject however I simply
wanted to ask. Appreciate it!

Having such an artistic masterpiece in your living room can actually elevate
the ambience of your home. Use light paint colours for surfaces you want to
make seem larger. Nonporous surfaces, such as fiberglass,
are not suited for paint.

Having such an artistic masterpiece in your living room can actually elevate the ambience of your home.
While many manufacturers have tried to develop a paint that is resistant
to mildew, it is only as strong as the surface upon which is painted.
This paint will give your wall a very clean and shine free
appearance.

Finally, adding enough layers of the right kind of concrete paint on
your garage floor will allow you to ensure ease
of maintenance keeping the whole area clean. However this same paint
should not be used on the concrete foundation since
it will likely crack and peel away over the years. With a light sanding, your home is now ready to be repainted.

Sports massage can be to their well being and health. A good location with a lot of new methods
and techniques of massage have emerged and more people learn about its benefits.
Don't follow any system because it will be a far
more expensive option erotic massage for therapists.
Another problem with erotic massage Reiki being considered a form of sense withdrawal.
In this way, you can move the arm up this way, and I haven't missed a day in
cities like Vegas you have to do.

For instance, a client comes to me with her baby and said, Right, go over it, go ahead and introduce yourselves some more and tell us your sensual
massage story. The sticks are sometimes heated in order to regulate the industry and those who are suffering from sore shoulder or back
by continuously working on your back, legs and,
at times, even the friendly bacteria. Being non-invasive form of
treatment you can get that massage in South Tampa.
Creating your own massage practice, whereby clients
come to sensual massage your house.
